Improving Health Outcomes for Black Women and Babies through Queens Village

In 2023, GCF’s Racial Justice Fund continued to support the voices of Black women in our community with a $35,000 grant to Queens Village. Queens Village exists to uplift Black women and reduce poor health outcomes that disproportionately affect Black mothers and babies. Their programming is created by listening to the needs and wants of the community and creating a safe, supportive space that allows women to relieve stress, learn and connect.

Queens Village is an initiative of Cradle Cincinnati, a broad collective of community members, health professionals and civic leaders joined together to reduce infant mortality in Hamilton County. It offers monthly social and educational programs and provides funding and opportunities for Black-owned businesses. The organization is also a lead partner of Mama Certified, a certification program that provides Black parents-to-be with a way to assess and understand the maternal equity-related efforts of local hospital networks.
