Paving the Path to Educational Success

In 2023, GCF partnered with generous donors to grant over $24 million to expand access to quality education, providing a solid foundation for success for the next generation.

Supporting Early Childhood Educators
4C for Children is a child care resource and referral agency serving a 15-county area that supports roughly 24,000 children from households with low incomes. The organization received a two-year, $100,000 grant from GCF to support The Child Care Teacher Advancement project to aid early childhood educators with continuing education and training necessary to meet state requirements and work toward career goals.

After the COVID-19 pandemic, many early childhood centers experienced a staffing crisis, resulting in the closure of facilities across the state. This initiative bolsters staffing, helping child care centers stabilize and increase enrollment. 4C for Children specifically supports programs that serve families with low incomes, providing a vital lifeline for working families to avoid economic disruptions. Providing children with critical early educational and developmental experiences sets children up for future success, creating a lifetime impact.

Summertime Kids and Learning Links
Small grants can deliver big impact. Greater Cincinnati Foundation has a longstanding partnership with the Charles H. Dater Foundation offering mini grants designed to give creative, educational and enriching experiences to children and families. The funding supports organizations and schools who provide engaging, holistic programs that encourage learning for children birth through high school, during the summer and/or school-year months.

In 2023, GCF enlisted the help of 54 volunteers who combed through hundreds of grant applications to award $375,181 to local schools and organizations.
