Appointed Civic Leadership Academy Wins Canary Award

July 13, 2024

CINCINNATI (July 13, 2024) –  The Women’s Fund Appointed Civic Leadership Academy (ACLA) was selected to receive the prestigious 2024 Canary Award at the Ohio Women’s Leadership Summit. This recognition celebrates the academy’s exceptional contributions to civic leadership and its commitment to empowering women in our community. Rajani Menon, Civic Inclusion Manager accepted the award on Saturday, July 13 in front of a crowd of 500 policymakers, thought leaders and gender equity advocates gathered at the Cintas Center. The Canary Award is presented annually to organizations that demonstrate outstanding leadership, innovation, and dedication to advancing women’s roles in civic and public life. The Women’s Fund Appointed Civic Leadership Academy has consistently exemplified these values, providing essential training, resources, and support to women aspiring to hold public office or take on significant civic roles.

Through its comprehensive programs, the academy has nurtured a new generation of female leaders who are making impactful changes at local, state, and national levels. The award not only acknowledges the academy’s past achievements but also inspires continued efforts toward gender equity in leadership.

Receiving this award at the Ohio Women’s Leadership Summit underscores the significance of the academy’s work. It is also a testament to the transformative power of community-driven initiatives and the remarkable potential of women leaders in shaping a better future for all.

In May, ACLA was selected from a dozen non-profits as the Social Venture Partners Project XLR8 investee which focuses on driving social innovation and equity in Greater Cincinnati.

Let us celebrate these achievements and continue to support and empower women in our community. Together, we can build a more equitable and vibrant society.
