Greater Cincinnati Foundation Announces Graduates of 2020 CAP® Class
CINCINNATI (March 12, 2021) – Greater Cincinnati Foundation (GCF) is pleased to welcome six area professionals representing multiple disciplines as the newest CAPs® in the region.
The CAP® program provides the knowledge and tools needed by professionals in the nonprofit, legal, and financial services fields to help clients reach their charitable giving objectives and meet their estate planning and wealth management goals.

Each individual earned the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) professional designation from the Richard D. Irwin Graduate School of The American College of Financial Services, King of Prussia, PA.
Candidates for the CAP® designation complete a minimum of three courses in philanthropic studies at the Richard D. Irwin Graduate School and six hours of rigorous, supervised written examinations. The curriculum addresses the advanced design, implementation and management of charitable gift techniques and strategies.
Fewer than 2,400 individuals have been awarded the CAP® designation since its inception in 2003, and there are approximately 25 CAPs® in the Cincinnati area.
CAP® graduates are uniquely qualified to bring together gift planners and well-chosen advisors with the common purpose of helping wealthy families create legacy plans. In addition, professionals who have earned the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® designation help donors improve their communities by maximizing the effective application of their financial resources.
Terence L. Horan, the CAP®, President of HORAN, and one of the co-moderators of this year’s class, said, “It was a very successful year. The fallout from COVID-19 has shown us the importance of philanthropy… now more than ever. Navigating the pandemic necessitated a 100% distance-learning platform. Despite that challenge, the group came together and shared their collective experience to make this interdisciplinary course of study invaluable to each.”

By convening a cohort that includes wealth advisors, tax and accounting specialists, and legal experts, participants form deep relationships that continue beyond the CAP® study group, to benefit their clients and grow their practice.”
