Paying it Forward with Planned Gifts

California natives, Jack and Barb Smith have lived in many cities all over the country, but they chose to call Cincinnati home. Jack worked for Procter & Gamble (P&G) and his position took the family across the world.

“P&G encourages employees to get out into the community and to find the things you care about,” shared Jack. And the couple has done just that. They’ve found causes they care for deeply and partnered with GCF to include support for them in their estate plans.

“We’re passionate about the community and helping kids — it’s all been fostered by our life experiences.” said Jack.

Jack and Barb’s planned gifts will support organizations that focus on education and afterschool programing; providing custom devices to improve the lives of people living with disabilities; and helping girls from families with low incomes attend high school prom.

“We give GCF credit for helping us shape these gifts,” said Jack. “We came to GCF when we were faced with the loss of our son. GCF was great in helping us honor our son through giving. I’m not aware of any foundation that does this work as well as GCF does.”

When asked why Jack and Barb have so intentionally planned their life’s legacy, Jack shared, “Barb and I have lived the best life that anyone could hope to live. We’ve been very blessed. Why would we not pay it forward?”
