GCF Announces $100,000 Challenge Grant for The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
CINCINNATI (July 13, 2022) — Greater Cincinnati Foundation (GCF) is excited to announce the launch of a $100,000 challenge grant to support the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center’s “Be the Conductor” capital campaign. This grant will match all 2022-2023 donations dollar for dollar up to $100,000 from supporters who have not previously contributed to the Freedom Center’s capital campaign.
Specifically, this grant will be used to support the addition of a new signature exhibit that tells the Black American story more completely, connecting past history with contemporary social justice issues. Doubling their impact, donors have the unique opportunity to contribute to the first permanent exhibition that brings education, awareness and visibility to social justice and racial equity – not only to our region, but nationwide.
“GCF is committed to conversations about racial equity that build connections and move us forward with enhanced insights and shared purpose,” says Rasheda Cromwell, VP of Community Strategies at GCF. “The exhibition offers the community a learning experience that constructively addresses social inequities and a call to action for visitors to play a vital role in ensuring social justice for all.”
The Freedom Center exists to educate, inspire and advocate in pursuit of inclusive freedom and social justice. The goal of the “Be the Conductor” capital campaign is to transform the museum with new and upgraded galleries, digital learning, augmented reality and modernized content to reach over 2,000 visitors annually and engage over 200,000 users via its website.
