Greater Cincinnati Foundation Names Sarah Weiss as Chief Philanthropy Officer
CINCINNATI (November 28, 2023) — Greater Cincinnati Foundation (GCF) has named Sarah Weiss as chief philanthropy officer effective January 3, 2024. In this role, Weiss will oversee GCF’s donor services, business development and marketing communications.
“Sarah is an accomplished leader with a track record of strategic planning, successful fundraising, and coalition-building,” said Matthew Randazzo, president and CEO of GCF. “Her expertise, relationships and passion for the work will grow our assets under influence and accelerate our impact across the region.”
Weiss most recently served for 15 years as CEO and executive director of The Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center (HHC), where she grew its annual operating budget from $500,000 to $2.5 million with endowment commitments of $20 million and its team from three to 20 people. While at HHC, she led all operations, including exhibits, education, community-based programs, marketing and partnerships. She also oversaw its groundbreaking move to Cincinnati’s Union Terminal.
Weiss’ industry and community involvement includes serving for nearly a decade on the board of the Association of Holocaust Organizations, as well as serving as director of the Jewish Community Relations Council at the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati. In 2021, Weiss collaborated with leaders and legislators across the state to create the Ohio Holocaust & Genocide Memorial & Education Commission. She was appointed to the Commission by Gov. Mike DeWine and now serves as its secretary. She is also serving on the board of Talbert House.
Weiss is an alum of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber’s WE Lead Class 5 and Leadership Cincinnati Class 41. Recognized by many organizations, she was most recently named as one of Cincinnati Magazine’s “25 Women Driving Change” and was selected as a YWCA Greater Cincinnati “Rising Star.” Most notably, she received the prestigious FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award.
“I cannot imagine a more meaningful place to make a difference than Greater Cincinnati Foundation,” said Weiss. “Having spent the first 20 years of my career building an educational institution that strives to create upstanders, I am excited to work with the upstanders in our community to build a more vibrant and equitable region for generations to come.”
