Appointed Civic Leadership Academy

The Appointed Civic Leadership Academy is comprised of a four-part series – with one session offered every quarter. Each session focuses on committees within a specific sector such as planning, zoning, economic development, health, human services, art, and humanities. Upon completion of four sessions, participants will receive a certificate.

The ACLA was inaugurated on June 3, 2023, by Congressman Greg Landsman, Ohio State Senator Catherine Ingram, Cincinnati Vice Mayor Jan Michele-Lemon Kearney, Cincinnati City Council Member Liz Keating and Cincinnati City Manager Sheryl Long. Nearly 100 women attended the session. Each session is a stand-alone piece, and the four parts of the series can be attended in any order.

In 2023, the ACLA trained over 160 women, and more than 37 participating women were appointed to civic boards and commissions.

Appointed Civic Leadership Academy offers:

  • Formal training that prepares attendees for civic engagement
  • A social network that lends inspiration and support
  • Opportunity for attendees to meet and interface with elected officials
  • A certificate that adds credibility and confidence
  • No charge to make it accessible to women from all walks of life
